CHAPLAIN

Yarloop Primary School offers students access to chaplaincy through YouthCARE, providing an essential social, emotional and mental health service to our school and community.

Our YouthCARE Chaplain, Miss Emma provides a supportive place to talk, confidential, non-judgmental pastoral care and programs based on respect, compassion and service.

Not only is our chaplain trained in pastoral care she comes to us with a background in social science and counselling, with ongoing training and education provided to specialise in critical incidences, community members living in isolation and mental health initiatives. Chaplaincy is an important part of the support we offer our school community who may be facing challenging personal and social issues irrespective of faith and cultural background.

Emma forms an integral part of the school by:

  • Providing pastoral care for staff, students and families

  • Linking schools with local community, support agencies and organisations

  • Referrals to external services

  • Playing an active role assisting and supporting school events

  • Facilitating support programs and resources

  • Supporting, mentoring, encouraging and empowering the school community

Our Chaplain runs Breakfast Club before school each Monday and Thursday morning from the canteen.

Emma is available to talk with, and offer support, to anyone within the school community on Monday’s and Thursday’s by phone, in person appointment or email.
