It is good to be back at school again after my time off and it was great to get the reception that I received from the children.
Many thanks to Mr Philp and the staff for their efforts in my absence, it is good to know that the school continues to function correctly.
I would like to welcome pre-service teachers Ms Easdown and Mrs Schirripa to Yarloop P.S for this term. They will be teaching in room 2 and 1 respectively and will be with us all term.
This term will be very busy, we have already had how first incursion with all the children having a one hour first aid lesson on Thursday. The workshops were conducted by St John’s ambulance workers. I’m sure the children learnt some valuable lessons from this incursion.
On Monday Constable Care will be again visiting us and presenting 2 shows. One for the K – 3 and the other for the 4 – 7.
Also in this term will be the NAPLAN tests for children in years 3, 5 and 7 and the AEDI assessment for pre school children.
This term the children will also be doing dance on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 5 weeks. All children from K – 7 will be participating.
This only gets us to the middle of term so you can see we will be quite busy.
Breakfast club will commence on Monday and will again run for three days a week, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the canteen will be open for business this Tuesday and will also open on Wednesday and Fridays. Please see the new menu that is attached.
As this is a short week this will not be a full newsletter the first full newsletter will be sent out in week 4.
Thank you to Amber Johnson for representing our school at Yarloop’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service. Amber read a poem at the service as did ex-student Tayla Donohoe.
Thanks to Mrs Walton, Mrs Barrington, Mrs Penny and Mrs Collis for setting up our Harvey Show display.

Being a great dadMany dads tell me that they want a better relationship with their children, particularly their sons, than they had with their own fathers.
